Advancing Peace: Highlights from the 1st Bangsamoro Peace Education Conference

 Hello everyone! Today, I want to share some exciting news about the 1st Bangsamoro Peace Education Conference held in the Philippines. This landmark event took place on January 29, 2024, at the Shariff Kabunsuan Cultural Complex in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), specifically in Cotabato City. The conference was co-hosted by the Department of Education in Cotabato City and Heavenly Culture, World Peace, Restoration of Light (HWPL), focusing on the importance of peace education in fostering a harmonious society.

The conference aimed to promote peace education across the Philippines through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) between the Philippine Department of Education and HWPL. To this end, in May, HWPL Philippines released peace education textbooks for regions including Laguna, Southern Leyte, and BARMM. These textbooks are designed to be incorporated into the national curriculum, highlighting the importance of peace education at a national level.

During the event, HWPL's peace education curriculum was introduced, showcasing various educational programs and case studies that demonstrated the positive impact of peace education on communities. The event brought together educators and experts who shared their experiences and discussed practical approaches to implementing peace education in their regions.

HWPL Chairman Lee Man-hee emphasized the power of education in shaping the human mind, stating, "Education is what creates the human mind. Through education, we can tear down the house of conflict and hatred that has been wrongly built in the human heart and build a new house with peace and love." His words underscored the critical role of education in transforming societies and fostering a culture of peace.

The conference underscored the need for peace education not only in the Bangsamoro region but across the entire Philippines, inspiring many attendees. It served as a powerful reminder that peace is a value that requires collective effort and dedication to achieve.
